NAMM 2009: Carvin and Steve Vai unveil Legacy II amp (updated with pic)
Carvin and Steve Vai will release the new Legacy II amp at NAMM in a few weeks, but it’s already appearing in Carvin’s 2009 catalog, which is going out to subscribers now. Here’s a photo from the catalog.
The amp was designed with Benjamin Fargen of Fargen Amps. In the catalog, Fargen says, “When Steve Vai personally asked me to redesign his signature series Legacy guitar amplifier, I was truly excited about the project. The new Legacy 2 includes many of the tricks and tweaks I’ve developed over 15 years of custom made tube audio design work. The result is a powerful blend of high end boutique sound and rock-solid American manufacturing. If you’re looking for singing sustain, organic harmonic complexity and roadworthy features that work in the real world, there’s simply no better amplifier than the new Carvin Legacy 2.”
So it sounds like they’ve addressed one of the main criticisms of the Legacy: its incredible volume.
