NEWS: Gibson Angus Young signature humbucker

Here’s another in the ‘boy how did I miss that – aren’t I a guitar geek?’ file. Just saw on the italkguitarnews Twitter feed that Gibson offers an Angus Young signature humbucker. Cool! Seems they’ve been around for quite a while as an aftermarket model but I’ve never come across them outside of the Gibson Angus Young signature SG. So if you’re reading this and you have one, fill me in! What are they like?

Here’s some info on the pickup.

With enamel-coated wire, special Alnico V magnet, and matched coils, the Gibson Angus Young Signature humbucker provides a one-two combination of vintage-style punch and ripping tone that will sear through almost anything. Bridge position. Comes with 4 conductor wiring for series/parallel/split-coil variations. Gibson wax potted the Angus Young Humbucker twice to eliminate unwanted microphonics.

    I've always thought that Angus Young really did have a very punchy sound from his SG. It's pretty awesome that you can purchase just the humbuckers for the tone. haha
