Megadeth’s new track ‘Headcrusher,’ from the forthcoming album Endgame, is being offered as a free download for an extremely limited time: for 24 hours ending at 11AM EST on July 8. So get on down to Roadrunner’s website right away to get it before it’s too late. (UPDATE: If you missed the download window you can now stream the song by clicking HERE). The ‘cover’ image, which depicts the the titular (hehe) medieval torture device in use, is really gruesome – I’m a big scary metal man and even I feel a little sick looking at it – so I’ve cleaned it up for you.

My thoughts on the song:

Reminds me of stuff from the Rust In Peace and So Far, So Good, So What eras. Fast, crushing, brutals, and angry. Nice solo from Chris Broderick at the end, but I’d kinda like it to go on for a lot longer and tell more of a story. Although when the story is “There’s this guy, see, and he gets his head crushed in a medieval torture device,” there’s not much more you can say than “OUCH!”
