I would also really like to know what the specs of the PC or MAC were... I own this product but, have processing problems with a Pentium D dual core w/ 4 GB's of ram running @ 800MHZ. Even when I overclock to 1066MHZ...

For a software only solution AmpliTube 2 was my favorite amp sim. The latency isn't bad either but there is a little. I imagine this varries with depending on the power of your CPU, I have a P4 3ghz. Would have liked to tried it with a modern duo core cpu.

Your review is very good and I also found the sweet spot for gain to be about 2/3rds of the way up. Until I got my Line6 UX2, I used AmpliTubes 2 for jamming in the living room and recording and loved the vresatility off it. But now I use my UX2 for everything. Which is why I say for a software only solution, Amplitubes 2 was my faveorite. Just be sure you have at least a P4 3Ghz cpu. I found that some of the real heavy effects started to bog down a bit with my P4.

Out of curriousity, could you tell us a bit about your computer you used for the review. What CPU and how much memory? And what do you use for an audio interface / recording I/O.
Thanks,

Thanks! I'll look into sharing my patches. A lot of them are quite dependent on the guitar they're used with - for instance some sound great with DiMarzio Evolution pickups but don't really work with Tone Zones. But that's part of the beauty of AmpliTube: it really does interact with your specific guitar.

Great review! Thanks for the tips to find the right input level and resist cranking the volume knob all the way. I'll definitely have to try that. You've coaxed some great sounds out of this software! Any chance you could share a few of those awesome patches for us to try out ourselves?
