NEWS: Guitar Hero: Van Halen song list

Now, I’ve never played Guitar Hero. While I’m glad it exists and I’ve seen the benefits first hand in terms of getting kids interested in playing real guitar, well, I have real guitars. But the kids of today could do a lot worse than rocking out to Van Halen, what with their Dan Fogelberg, their Zima, hula hoops, and Pac-Man video games.*

*Guess the movie reference. There’s no prize but it’s fun, right?

I think it is a shame that EVH is acting like Sammy Hagar and Micheal Anthony were never a part of Van Halen. I mean honestly, nothing from 5150, For Unlawful Carnal Knowlege, OU812? Even Balance had at least two really great songs. Sad, sad, sad.

  • Sam says:

    That reference is from BASEketball.

If the game had Michael Anthony and had Hagar / Cherone era stuff as well, I would gladly buy it.

  • Peter Hodgson says:

BASEketball it is! But @aljonrocks on Twitter beat ya to it!

I agree about leaving out the Sammy and even Gary stuff. VHIII could have been a much better album if the mixing/mastering wasn't so bad. I put it through T-Racks mastering software as an experiment once and it sounded so much better. I really dislike how they processed Gary's voice. It seems like they used some kind of digital doubling effect to thicken his voice up to make him sound more like Sammy (seriously, listen to 'Without You' again and tell me it doesn't sound like Sammy), but it caused all these weird phase cancellation things.

If they had 'Judgement Day' in the game, maybe I would play it.

I was oginally against the whole guitar hero thing, becuase i was all like "i have basses and guitars, i can play the real thing" but then we went over to a friends place, got drunk and started playing it….it's good fun….i downloaded a pack the other day that had "surfing with the alien" and "for the love of god" which where pretty good, there needs to be a Pantera version….that would be perfect for GH….

  • Sam says:

Rats, ah well, too late! LOL

A Pantera GH would be cool, but would the controller be a Dean one? More $$$ for Rita & Vinnie & Elliot…..
