Some say it sounds like garbage or whatever... . From using it now for a while I can say it`s not quite the same as the unprocessed signal, but it`s not bad. I only use it for a 1/2 step down. Going lower than a 1/2 step sounds worse to me (and more unrealistic the lower you go ...what do you expect?). The cons: very slight latency, slightly less dynamics/highs/signal strength and it doesn`t let notes or chords feedback the same as unprocessed. It doesn`t like pinch harmonics either, makes them harder to produce. The pros: You don`t 'have to' bring a downtuned guitar just for a few songs if you don`t want to. I`ve used the Morpheus many times live and while I notice a difference, I doubt the audience does really. For live use and a practice at home tool, it does it`s job decently.

These things are really cool. You don't lose much at all when you use it. If you have this and the capo pedal, you have all keys taken care of.

Sorry, but this thing is garbage. The sound is very processed and muddy. I'm trying to return mine right now.

Don't waste the $$$$$$$

I am very interested in this puddle but I have a question... I am currently using 4 different guitars for 4 different tunings. I have been looking for a baritone that has a setup I like for what seems like ages with no success. If I take my guitar that is in Drop C and hook it into the Morpheus pedal I would only have to go down 3 steps to get to A sharp. By shortening the set of steps at which the processor has to drop the tuning... will that clean up some of the muddyness?

Thanks,
Barry Lafever

I just received the Morpheus Droptune today. I called them up asking about the unit and the firmware upgrade. They said that only the first couple hundred had the old software and more than likely if I just ordered mine that it would have the latest. Then he asked me to power it up and said if the #2,4 and both 12`s light up momentarily that it`s the latest software. And it did ...my question was answered :)

I`ve got one coming from Sweetwater, so it`s on the way. I can`t wait to check it out and use it this weekend at EQC gig. I bring one guitar for several songs downtuned a half step, and am tired of the switching and the time it adds to the show. So yeah, I`m hoping it works great or at least good for live use. Any idea of how you can tell if you have one with the new software? I`m hoping the manual tells you...

Hi! The update was sent to me via the local distributor who loaned me the pedal. Email me at iheartguitarblog AT gmail.com and I'll give you more info about the update, but yes, it's done via the mini USB.

You mentioned that there was a firmware update? I talked to my tech at Sweetwater and he said he had no clue what I was talking about. Just got the pedal last night, and I do hear some muddyness and can definitely tell the sound is processed. I assume you can hook the pedal to the computer for this update with the mini usb on the pedal? Or is that for midi control? I'm a little confused.

Sounds fantastic to me - I certainly can't tell the difference. But more importantly, could you see yourself actually using it frequently? And what about cleaner tones?
