VIDEO: Orianthi & Steve Vai – Highly Strung (plus making-of)

While I was at NAMM I was lucky enough to interview Orianthi about PRS guitars. Unfortunately about an hour later my voice recorder disappeared (though I’m told it still could show up in lost and found, fingers crossed), but not before Orianthi could tell me about her new duet with Steve Vai, ‘Highly Strung.’ The track appears on her new album Believe. Check out the video below, then the making-of video. And check out the album too – Orianthi’s guitar playing kicks ass.

Man those cats can wail. The more I listen and watch Orianthi, the more my jaw hits the floor. She's got some killer chops… and as for Vai, well, I can't say anything that hasn't already been said a million times.

(although he does kind of look like Keanu Reeves in the early parts of the video, especially 0:20)

    Thanks for posting this :)

  • Lucas says:

is it just me or does Orianthi's tone sound just like steve's?

  • Gear Junkie says:

Awesome videos! Orianthi is amazing, I think it's fantastic that our best and brightest possibility for a modern guitar hero is a young lady. I remember the day when everyone said that was impossible because "chicks don't play with b–ls". Nonsense, she plays with more intensity and passion than most of the guys I've seen.
