Levy’s Leathers is a world leading manufacturer of Guitar Straps, Gig Bags, Other Instrument Straps and consumer leather and nylon goods based in Winnipeg, Canada. The company was founded in 1973 and their leather products reach world-wide markets through distributors in over fifty countries, in addition to their Canadian and US dealer-direct distribution systems.
Levy’s has engaged the services of the Law firm Baker & McKenzie with regards to Intellectual Property infringements by People’s Republic of China based auction sites that often serve as platforms for widespread IP infringements. A review of several of these sites shows an array of Levy’s designs and Levy’s like designs using copies of Levy’s point of sale materials and display hangers which would lead the consumer to believe they are purchasing a Levy’s product.
Harvey Levy, Director of Levy’s Leathers, indicated that Levy’s is one of several North American manufacturers suffering the effects of counterfeit products in the Chinese marketplace and have taken this action in support of their brand and their world-wide distribution network.
