Hands down, one of the best things about NAMM is seeing all the sweet Fender Custom Shop stuff in one room.
How about this: Jaguar with select Alder body, Oval C-shaped neck, 7.25″ fretboard radius, vintage frets, Vintage ’62 Jaguar pickups, binding and block inlays. MSRP $9,700.
Or maybe you have $10,200 to throw around on this Esprit Ultra. Seymour Duncan ’59 in the neck position, JB in the bridge, 12″ fretboard radius… Nice.
I’d rather like to have one of these sitting in the corner for when those bassy moments strike. Pre-scratched, so I don’t have to worry about taking my watch off. That’s a Dusty Hill Signature P Bass, in honour of the ZZ Top low-end legend. MSRP $6,000.
Now, we all know 60s-style Strats are lustworthy, but y’know what’s even more lustworthy? Matching headstocks. Boom. Alder body, tinted maple neck, rosewood fretboard, 9.5″ radius, 1960 Strat pickups, 5-way pickup selector switch (vintage-accurate would be a 3-way switch), MSRP $4,600.
Then there’s my favourite: Limited Edition 2012 Telecaster Custom. Aged double-bound select Alder body, Bird’s Eye Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard, 60s Oval “C” neck shape, 9.5″ radius with 6105 frets, Abby handound Twisted Tele pickups, Bigsby vibrato, MSRP $6,000.
