What’s Joe Matera Up To?

FA-300The other day I reached out to my buddy Joe Matera to fill me in on what he’s been up to lately musically. Joe’s an awesome guitarist who’s doing great things in getting his music heard worldwide, and he’s been very patient in putting up with me planning to write about his adventures but then getting distracted by pretty shiny things. So Joe, what are you up to? “I am embarking on my second European tour in May, 2014, and I am working on new music and a new rock vocal single to follow up my very successful ‘Fallen Angel’ single that continues to do well over in Europe. My upcoming new single ‘Shining Star’ features Pete Lincoln (THE SWEET) playing bass on it. Also, Martin Bullard (SMOKIE) plays keyboards on an acoustic version of the new single. And Rick Brewster (THE ANGELS) again guests on another new instrumental track of mine. New single will be released later this year and again will be out via W.A.R Productions in Europe.” Read More …

Yngwie Malmsteen Australian Clinic Tour

YngwiePicThe mighty Yngwie J. Malmsteen is heading to Australia this December for clinics in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. This is an unprecedented opportunity to see two hours’ worth of the master demonstrating his skills up close. This isn’t something Yngwie does very often – ever?!? – so I can certainly imagine folks making the trip to Australia from other countries to be a part of this. And if that sounds like something you’d consider doing, might I recommend Melbourne as your clinic of choice? We can do beers afterwards.

Hear The New Dream Theater Track

The Enemy InsideDream Theater have just released “The Enemy Inside,” the first track surface from their forthcoming self-titled album (and their second album with the wonderful Mike Mangini on drums). This link  should take you to a localized stream for your country. If it currently doesn’t work for you, check back as more countries are being added as the pages go live. “I see every new album as an opportunity to start over,” John Petrucci says. “To either build or improve upon a direction that has been evolving over time or to completely break new ground. This is the first self-titled album of our career, and there is nothing I can think of that makes a statement of musical and creative identity stronger than that. We’ve fully explored all of the elements that make us unique, from the epic and intense to the atmospheric and cinematic. We’re incredibly excited about Dream Theater and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.” Read More …
