Ernie Ball Music Man St Vincent Signature

St. Vincent is such a great guitarist and such a compelling artist overall, and very deserving of a signature guitar. She’s been playing Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee models recently and now Music Man and St. Vincent have teamed up for a bold new guitar design. There are a few little hints of existing models too: the bridge appears to be the one from the John Petrucci Majesty and the V carve of the top is reminiscent of the Armada. But the overall design is very original and it looks to be really functional too. It must be an utter blast to play and I can’t wait to check it out.

Tony MacAlpine Postpones Tour Due To Illness

Wishing Tony MacAlpine a speedy recovery. He’s a great guy and I know Thump Music has been working really hard to bring you this tour. Looking forward to welcoming Tony to Australia when he’s well enough to rock for us. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way, Tony.

PRESS RELEASE: To my friends in Asia and Australia, it is with great disappointment and regret that I must announce the postponement of my tours in Asia and Australia. Last week I was taken to the hospital with severe stomach pains. Following blood work, multiple MRI scans and various procedures, medical doctors discovered a large mass in my intestine, and it seems likely that we are dealing with cancer. My doctors have advised me that this will need to be dealt with immediately, and I am scheduled for surgery this week. Recovery from this surgery will take a month – right when I was scheduled to tour the Australasian region. Read More …

Black Lightning Gallery Steve Vai Signature Edition

Steve Vai Black Lightning Gallery

Black Lightning Gallery has just unveiled the Steve Vai Signed Editions, beautifully presented, historically awesome images photographed by Gene Kirkland and personally signed and numbered by Steve and Gene. There are two images in the run: “Wings Of The Storm,” featuring Steve during his Whitesnake era during the “Fool For Your Loving” video shoot in 1989, and “Goin’ Crazy,” capturing Steve in 1985 with his famous flame guitar as seen in the David Lee Roth ‘Goin Crazy’ Video from Eat ‘Em And Smile.

These images are both printed to the highest standards at Giclée Fine Art print archival gallery quality and they’re extremely limited: only 15 of each exist, priced at $777 each unframed or $930 framed. They’re each presented with a signed Certificate Of Authenticity and each print is numbered in sequence as ordered. This is serious ‘deluxe mancave’ stuff.

REVIEW: The Aristocrats’ Culture Clash Live! & Tres Caballeros

It’s been intriguing to watch The Aristocrats (Guthrie Govan, Bryan Beller and Marco Minnemann) grow. I was lucky enough to be at their very first performance, before they even had a band name or Aristocrats-specific material. And since then they’ve played countless gigs (actually Bryan Beller could probably name them all – he seems great at stuff like that) and inspired musicians all over the world to push their abilities to new levels. And I guess that’s the big caveat for The Aristocrats: it’s pretty much ‘musician music.’ I know of one or two non-musicians who listen to them but for the most part this is a band that seems best appreciated by those who are trained to take in the nuances of what The Aristocrats are putting out there. This year there have been two new Aristocrats releases, the live album Culture Clash Live! and the new studio record, Tres CaballerosRead More …
