PRS Mark Holcomb SE Revealed!
It was probably the worst-kept secret since the Guns N’ Roses reunion, thanks to Mark’s carefully-cropped hinting on his Instagram, but here it is: the PRS SE Mark Holcomb Signature Model! NAMM: Jackson Enters The Multiscale Arena
Jackson has picked up the challenge thrown down by the likes of Ormsby, Strandberg, Carvin, Ibanez and others by releasing their first production muliscale guitar. The X Series Soloist Archtop SLAT7 FF is a 7-string with 25.7-27″ scale lengths (the press release is worded weirdly on that front but I’m sure if you’re reading this you know what that means) with EMG 808 humbucking pickups and individual staggered bridge saddles. EVH Unveils Marshall-Vibed 5150III & More
EVH Gear: ya gotta hand it to Eddie Van Halen and co. They really give fans what they want. Oh, they might not give them everything they want right off the bat – there’s still no Shark, and although the EVH Striped series is cool, there are surely fans hanging out for one with a partial pickguard, neck pickup and a pickup selector switch jammed in the middle pickup cavity – but what they have given us is a great mix of the ‘I always wanted that’ and the ‘I didn’t realise I wanted that but it turns out it makes all my dreams come true.’ Two of the newest additions to the range will definitely please die-hard Eddie fans. One is a striped Wolfgang Special which is just super cool. The other is – oh holy crap – an EL34-loaded 5150III amp based on Eddie’s old Marshall tone. Yes! YES! Here’s the press release. Gretsch Tom Petersson Signature Basses!
This is the douchiest, namedroppiest thing I’ve ever posted here but this one time I was hanging out with Duff McKagan outside the Fender booth at NAMM (an awesome publicist introduced us to each other to do an interview while we were both in town) and Duff introduced me to Tom Petersson, who proceeded to hilariously mock my Australian accent for a solid five minutes or so.
