Hi! I’m Peter Hodgson. Welcome to I Heart Guitar!

Aside from this site, I also write for Gibson.com, Australian Guitar, Australian Musician, Mixdown Magazine, and sometimes Beat and The Brag. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 8 years old, and I’ve been writing for magazines since I was 18 (I’m 32 now). I studied Professional Writing at university and aside from a bunch of writing jobs I’ve also worked as a guitar teacher (up to 50 students a week) and a setup tech. I live in Melbourne, Australia with my beautiful partner (check out her site here) and our 4-year-old son (who is probably an even bigger Beatles geek than we are).

You can check out my guitar playing on my ancient, never-updated Myspace or on YouTube.

You can email me at iheartguitarblog@gmail.com

Hi Peter, Chris here from Thomas Lloyd Guitars. We just posted the same info on our facebook site – Great News! Just wondering if you do freelance work and would like to come and see us at our Montsalvat premises. We are Australia’s largest school of acoustic guitar making and we run classes in Melbourne, Tassie and Italy once a year. We head off in 4 weeks. We also are planning a exhibition of guitars that will be solely made from Australian tonewoods – ranging from the first ever built guitars to the modern guitar – both Classical and Steel String. If you are interested we would love to meet you before we head off to italy.

Drop us a line or call us.

Why do people say “I Heart…”? It was intended to say “I love…” using a symbol rather than the word.

The heart was a symbol for love

    I heart guitar = I love guitar.

    Just curious..

    Hey Peter,
I enjoyed your Top 10 Riders compilation from Smoking Gun.
I’m writing to ask permission to use all/some of it for Front of House magazine.
Thanks for the consideration. PS. Melbourne is the coolest city on the planet.
Ever notice that the “highway to hell” is any road that leads away from it?
    Sincerely,

Nice blog, Peter. My son just returned from a one year backpacker trip through Australia. According to him, there are plenty of guitar players over there.
