NEWS: Vox announces V845 wah-wah

Available November 2009. The V845 Wah-Wah pedal is a new version of the most famous guitar effects pedal of all time. Based on the specifications of the original pedal developed by VOX in the ’60s, the V845 Wah-Wah offers guitarists the same legendary Wah-Wah tone in a new sturdy but very affordable design. An AC power connector is fitted to save on batteries and the outer case is coated with tough all-black finish making it the perfect choice for your pedal board.

About the VOX Wah-Wah

VOX developed the world’s first Wah-Wah effect during the ’60s in an effort to allow guitarists to emulate the sound of a trumpet being muted — an important musical ingredient of the day. VOX’s original Wah-Wah pedal quickly gained widespread popularity and its unique sonic characteristics have encouraged further experimentation by guitarists ever since. Having made spotlight appearances on some of the most famous recordings of all time, the Wah-Wah is still considered “must-have equipment” for guitar players of all levels and abilities today.

NEW GEAR DAY: Jim Dunlop Buddy Guy wah

Woohoo! My new wah just arrived! My busted old Crybaby must now make room for my shiny new Jim Dunlop Buddy Guy wah. I reviewed one of these a while back (read that review here) and was impressed enough to put one on my wishlist. Well here it is!

NEWS: Dunlop finally gives Kirk Hammett a signature wah

Man, has this one ever been a long time coming. Pretty much the first two names that pop into most players’ minds when they think of wah wah are Jimi Hendrix and Kirk Hammett (although if you asked me I’d probably blurt out ‘Frank Zappa and Mike Keneally!’ but that’s just me, y’understand), and now, finally, Kirk Hammett is being honoured with his own signature wah pedal by Dunlop.

Now, Kirk has used many different wah wah pedals over the years, but live he typically relies upon a Crybaby rack wah, and it’s his preferred setting on that unit which forms the basis of his pedal. I for one can’t wait to get my hands – or should that be feet – on this one for a test drive.
Here’s the press release:
New KH95 Kirk Hammett Signature Wah Pedal from Dunlop

Now you can command the same killer wah tone as Kirk with the new Kirk Hammett Signature Wah. Developed in close collaboration with the metal guitar icon himself, it has been meticulously tuned and tweaked to deliver the wah-wah sound that revolutionized metal solos in the ’80s and for all time to come. This is the legendary tone that Kirk dials in on tour, using his DCR1SR Crybaby Rack Wah.

Dunlop’s engineers took Kirk’s EQ, volume and tone settings reflecting decades of blazing Crybaby riffology‹and reproduced them with exacting precision. The Kirk Hammett Wah is exceptionally even in response as you move from heel to toe, with a thick top end and full dynamic range. Dare to step into the footprint of a giant. Own a piece of the legend: the Kirk Hammett Signature Wah from Dunlop. List Price $264.61, Street Price $159.99;
