Eastwood Introduces the Seafoam Green Airline® ’59 Custom 3P Model
July 28, 2009
Eastwood Guitars has added the ever-so-popular “seafoam green” color to the highly successful Airline ’59 Custom 3P guitar line-up. This ultimate retro color has never been offered on the flagship Airline 3P model and with the option of a matching seafoam green Custom Airline leather strap, it will become an essential part of a style-loving guitarists wardrobe.

The Seafoam Green Airline ’59 Custom 3P features a unique white rubber binding that surrounds the tone-chambered mahogany body. The vintage style pinstriped pickguard and the aluminum tone switch plate are further details linked to the original Airline guitars. The ’59 custom series also includes the upgraded AIRLINE VVSC pickups. Each guitar has individual volume and tone, master volume, 5-way switch, Bigsby Tremolo, and the classic 25-1/2 scale. It ships in the Vintage Style Deluxe form-fit AIRLINE hardshell case with steel plate logo. “The Airline ’59 Custom series has been a run-away hit since the January launch” said Mike Robinson, President and founder of Eastwood Guitars “and the Seafoam Green Airline ’59 Custom 3P totally nails the vibe of Airline Guitars and demonstrates why this brand continues to be important 50 years later.”

Airline Town & Country ’59 Custom STD and DLX Guitars Join the Eastwood Line-up

July 17, 2009
Eastwood Guitars adds two new models to their popular Airline ’59 Custom Series, the Town & Country ’59 Custom STD and DLX. These retro-beauties will be making heads turn in concert halls and bars around the world. Guitar legend Chris Spedding sums up the Town & Country models best, “my Airline plays so sweet and looks so cool, I had to change my wardrobe to match it”.

The Airline Town & Country ’59 Custom guitars feature a unique black rubber binding surrounding the entire Vintage Cream body, which replicates the esthetics of the original Airline Res-O-Glas guitars. The cosmetic details on the STD include a retro-striped pickguard and control guard with vintage style chrome hardware and the DLX model comes with a BIGSBY licensed tremolo. This 25 ½” scale guitar is a players’ dream with a fast maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and block markers bolted onto a tone chambered mahogany body. These guitars deliver unlimited tone possibilities with high output Airline Vintage Voiced Single Coil pickups, a 3-way switch, master volume, and individual volume and tone for each pickup. The Airline ’59 Custom guitars ship in the new Vintage Style Deluxe form-fit AIRLINE hardshell case with steel plate logo.

NAMM 2009: Airline ’59 Custom Series

Whatever one’s opinion on Jack White, it can’t be denied that the popularity of The White Stripes a few years ago worked wonders in prompting Eastwood to revive Airline guitars (and for the record I dug White Stripes, so don’t mistake my flippancy for cynicism). After several years and a lot of great reviews, they’re zeroing in even closer to the ultimate modern Airline reissue.

Press release time:

Eastwood Guitars debuted their new AIRLINE® ’59 Custom Series guitars to rave reviews at NAMM 2009 earlier this month. The Airline ’59 Custom 2P and 3P are the first guitars in the new Airline Custom Series and have elevated the quality reputation of Eastwood Guitars to a whole new level.

The ’59 Custom guitars deliver many new features to the AIRLINE brand. These guitars feature a unique rubber binding which surrounds the entire body, and replicates the esthetics of the original Airline Res-O-Glas guitars. Additional cosmetic details include a striped pickguard, aluminum tone switch plate and available NOS Valco knobs. Both the ’59 Custom 2P and the ’59 Custom 3P guitars are fitted with the high output Airline Vintage Voiced Single Coil pickups. These models ship in the new Vintage Style Deluxe form-fit AIRLINE hardshell case with steel plate logo.

“It has been five years since I asked our engineering team for that rubber binding”, stated Mike Robinson, President of Eastwood Guitars, “and I can say it was definitely worth the wait. Over the past six years, our AIRLINE series has built a great reputation for playability and tone, but now we are setting a new standard in guitar esthetics with the new ’59 Custom Series”.

The Airline ’59 Custom 2P is available in red and the Airline ’59 Custom 3P comes equipped with a BIGSBY tremolo and is available in black or seafoam green. Both new models are in stock now and are shipping worldwide.
