Check out this great video of St. Vincent performing ‘Rattlesnake’ from her new self-titled album. I love her Adrian Belew-esque angular approach to melody and her use of texture and effects. The solo starts at about 2:27 but listen to the whole song, okay? This really makes me want an Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee HH.
Okay, so the quality isn’t great but here’s the brand new Metallica song “The Lords Of Summer,” performed in Bogota, Colombia a few hours ago. What do you think?
This is a great video showing Jason Becker’s original Carvins nice and close-up. Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one of Carvin’s Jason Becker models and installing one of the forthcoming Jason Becker Perpetual Burn humbuckers by Seymour Duncan.
If you haven’t checked out Ben Eller’s YouTube videos, this one is a good place to start. Dude has great taste in guitars and pickups, seriously awesome picking/muting skills, monster metal tones and a sense of humour. Here’s his latest, featuring Seymour Duncan Nazgul and Sentient pickups in a swirled Ibanez RG7421 through a Kemper profiler.
“Kingdom” is one of my all-time favourite Devin Townsend songs, and I’m so super-mega glad that it seems to have found its place among the upper echelon of classic Devy tracks: the re-recording on Epicloud, the regular appearances in live set lists. And holy crap you have to hear this version Devin has filmed for EMG. It’s also a great chance to see Devy’s guitar technique close-up. Turn your speakers up and enjoy!
