New Deep Purple Album With Aussie Bonus Track

Deep PurpleDeep Purple will release their new album NOW What?! here in Australia on May 24, and the Aussie release will feature a bonus track in the form of a live versino of Highway Star. Ah but that’s not all! The digipack version of the album will include a bonus DVD with special audio content including the single All The Time In The World in an alternative radio mix, plus live versions of Perfect Strangers and Rapture Of The Deep. The album was produced by Bob Ezrin, who was already super-cool for producing The Wall but gained extra Cool Points by dressing up like a member of Jane’s Addiction when he produced Strays (it’s on the bonus DVD that came with that album). REVIEW: TC Electronic Flashback X4 Delay & Looper

TC Electronic’s TonePrint line of effects ignited a revolution in the way guitarists approach stopboxes. These compact but powerful little pedals give you all sorts of effect parameters which you can set by yourself, but they also reserve a separate memory slot for you to load presets designed by some of the greats, who have access to even more parameter control than the pedals themselves let you tweak. You can beam these presets to your pedal via an iPhone or with a USB cable, and sound like your favourite artist. The Flashback Delay is a very versatile little pedal with six seconds of delay time, multiple delay types and a handy toggle switch for varying between quarter, 16th or dotted 8th notes, but it’s a little too simplified for those with complex delay needs. Enter the new Flashback X4.

NAMM 2009: Return of the mighty Blackmore Strat

Fender’s bringing back the Ritchie Blackmore Stratocaster in 2009. Do ya think Yngwie will pick a couple up? This sort of thing is right up his alley: scalloped fretboard, white finish, unused middle pickup.

The specs include a maple neck with a graduated scalloped rosewood fretboard, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Flat pickups, and ’70s-style “F” tuners. Deluxe gig bag included.
If you can’t wait until NAMM for them to be released, there’s a 1997 Ritchie Blackmore Strat on eBay at the moment.
By the way, anyone else heard the rumours that David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore have had informal chats about a reunion tour for Deep Purple Mk III?
