My interview with Brendon Small about the Gibson Dethklok Explorer

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of talking to one Mr. Brendon Small of Dethklok about his awesome new Gibson ‘Thunderhorse’ Dethklok Explorer. Now, everyone knows that Brendon’s Adult Swim showMetalocalypse is utterly awesome, but I urge you to check out his previous show Home Movies
too if you haven’t. I swear a real-life Coach McGurk – complete with whistle – goes to the same coffee shop as me.

Here’s the intro to the interview. You can read the rest over at Gibson.com.

Brendon Small Introduces The Gibson ‘Thunderhorse’ Explorer

Metalocalypse mastermind Brendon Small is many things: comedian, voice actor, writer, filmmaker; but one of his biggest passions is the guitar. An extremely capable player who graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 1997, Small strives to be as authentic as possible when including “guitar stuff” inMetalocalypse. When a member of fictional death metal band Dethklok shreds onscreen, the fretting hand animation is uncannily lifelike. All the guitar gear featured on the show looks like the real-world item it represents, down to the officially sanctioned logos. And wicked pinch harmonics take the place of bleeps when somebody onscreen drops the F-bomb.

You can preorder the new guitar HERE at Amazon.com.

Hi! I'm Peter Hodgson. I write for Gibson.com, Australian Guitar, Australian Musician, Mixdown Magazine (including my instructional column, 'Unleash Your Inner Rock God,' which has been running since 2007), guitarworld.com, Tone DeafBeat (including their weekly hard rock/metal column Crunch) and The Brag. And I'm Assistant Social Coordinator with Seymour Duncan. I've been playing guitar since I was 8 years old, and I've been writing for magazines since I was 18. I've also worked as a guitar teacher (up to 50 students a week), a setup tech, a newspaper editor, and I've also dabbled in radio a little bit. I live in Melbourne, Australia, and my hobbies include drinking way too much coffee, and eating way too much Mexican food.
