StringFest 2020 calls for luthiers and tonewood suppliers

StringFest In Deloraine, Tasmania is on again from April 17 to 19. You can read my article about it in the current issue of Australian Guitar magazine, but in short it’s a celebration of stringed instruments, especially those made from Tasmanian timbers. Luthiers, tonewood and accessory suppliers will have the opportunity to display and market their wares to a very interested and motivated group of musicians, collectors and hobbyists.

Concerts and workshops will be held in several venues over the weekend from 2pm on Friday 17th until 5pm on Sunday 19th. Among the artists appearing in 2020 are Jeff Lang and The Harry Edwards Trio.

Previous StringFest exhibitions have attracted over 1,000 people to view and buy these handmade instruments, or accessories for those intending to build their own instruments. Tickets are available on the day or bookmark the ticket link here for when tickets become available online.
If you want to be involved, exhibition tables and exhibition fees are just $10 per day, with the exhibition held in the large hall beside the main concert venue. The hall be open to the public from 2pm – 5pm Friday, 9am-5pm Saturday and 10am – 2pm Sunday.
If you haven’t arranged a site for display of your instruments and/or performance please call or email Nick on 0437 195 026 to do so as sites are filling up!

Melbourne Guitar Show. And I’m Playing!

Melbourne Guitar Show low res

Are you in Australia? Think you can get yourself to the Melbourne suburb of Caulfield on August 8 and 9 (which is really easy because there’s a train station right there)? Come along to the Melbourne Guitar Show! It’ll feature all sorts of displays, performances, seminars, workshops and even opportunities to buy gear right there on the day (which is exceedingly rare for a show like this in Australia). Performing artists include Jeff Lang, Lloyd Spiegel, Davidson Brothers, James Ryan, Simon Hosford, Nick Charles, King of the North, Racer Axe and many more, one of whom is …me! I’ll be playing a set of instrumental progressive-rock-shred-metal-fusion with my trio, which includes Geoff Mison of Pony Music and Defryme on drums and my former Upperhand bandmate Rohan Drew on bass. We’ll be onstage at midday on Saturday August 9. Come along! Here’s the press release: Read More …
