Fender Releases Swirled Strat, Tele

SwirlsFender is dipping into their 80s history right now – pardon the pun – with a pair of guitars that use the ‘Swirl’ finishing technique popularised on Ibanez Jems and Universes. Fender was actually the first company to offer guitars with this finish – they called it ‘Bowling Ball’ – when they were working with swirl mastermind Darren Johansen. And now Fender is offering affordable (and probably not Darren-swirled, judging by the reasonable price tag) swirled Stratocaster and Telecaster models in the Standard series. Naturally no two will be alike, since the swirling process is so very, very unique to each guitar. I hope these babies really take off and we start to see future models in other colour schemes, from subtle to extreme.
