PRESS RELEASE: Schecter Guitar Research and Wylde Audio announce signing a world-wide distribution deal.   Schecter will distribute Wylde Guitars, the creation of legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne), via their distributor network covering over 70 countries, which also includes handling fulfillment of the guitars in the USA.

“We are extremely proud to be working with Zakk and Wylde Audio on this endeavor,” states Schecter Guitar Research Executive Vice-president Marc LaCorte. “Zakk has been incredible in recognizing what he wanted in his own brand and bringing the best possible product to the market.”

The first offering from Wylde Audio, including the Odin, War Hammer and Viking models, are set to debut at the 2016 Winter NAMM.  Zakk has already been putting the prototypes through their paces at recent Black Label Society shows. “I’m very excited for the launch of Wylde Audio in 2016,” Wylde states.  “For me, it’s the next logical step. You start as a player, manager, VP of Team Operations, then Team Owner.  I’ve surrounded myself with super talented people to make this vision become a reality and having Schecter on board as our distributor is going to allow me to bring Wylde Audio’s boutique quality of craftsmanship to the next level.”

Visit the Schecter Guitar Research booth 210D during the 2016 Winter NAMM show to see these in person. Zakk Wylde will also be conducting a private press conference inside the Schecter/NAMM booth 210D at 5:00pm on Friday, January 22, 2016.

Zakk Wylde Introduces Wylde Audio

zakk1

Zakk Wylde has long been one of Gibson and Marshall’s most popular artists. The very idea of Zakk leaving either for another company at this stage seems utterly unbelievable. But that’s what’s happened: it’s just that Zakk hasn’t taken his considerable endorsement weight to other guitar and amp brands. He’s created his own instead. Wylde Audio will make guitars, amps, effects and all sorts of accessories. I caught up with Zakk to find out what’s what. Read More …

Zakk Wylde’s Pelham Blue Les Paul Found!

Pelham-Blue-Les-Paul-2I’m so glad I get to write this story! You might remember that Zakk Wylde’s Pelham Blue Gibson Les Paul was stolen in Chicago recently when Zakk was in town for the Experience Hendrix tour. Zakk mentions it in our recent interview too. Well as Guitar Player reports, the guitar has now been found! It turns out that ten days after it was nicked, it was sold for a couple of hundred bucks to Royal Pawn Shop in Chicago. After the mandatory 30-day wait period for the guitar to go on sale, the store decided to get a second opinion on its value, taking it to Chicago Music Exchange which happened to be a sponsor of the Experience Hendrix show and which had already been made aware of the missing guitar. The Chicago Police Department now has the guitar and it should be back with Zakk soon.  Read More …

INTERVIEW: Zakk Wylde

PRESS002 Credit Justin ReichZakk Wylde’s quarter-century career as shred master supreme is signposted by landmark works like Ozzy Osbourne’s No More Tears, his own bands Black Label Society and Pride & Glory, and even brief stints with The Allman Brothers Band (filling in for a gig in 1993) and Guns N’ Roses (joining Slash and co in the last days of that particular G’nR era). But Catacombs of the Black Vatican, the latest album by Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society does what any artist would strive for but so few achieves: it stands out as a masterwork two and a half decades into Zakk’s career, when many artists would just start to coast. With Catacombs Zakk has forged an album that pays tribute to his various influences – Sabbath, Zeppelin, Alice In Chains, the Allmans – and filters it through his own massive musical personality to come up with his most varied, complete collection of songs ever. And his guitar playing is utterly ferocious, as usual. Read More …

Hutchinson Guitar Concepts Viking LP

HGC Viking LPHutchinson Guitar Concepts has just released its third Viking concept, based on a Gibson Les Paul Custom. With detailed knotwork carved into the top and arching shiplap style panelling, it looks ready to invade the shoreline. The Zakk Wylde EMG 81/85 pickups feature engraved knotwork and a worn metal finish matching the Evertune bridge. As with all HGC designs, the weight and tone of the original guitar is left unaffected. More designs are available through the Hutchinson Guitar Concepts website, which feature a portfolio of finished instruments inspired by wide ranging themes and executed through hundreds of hours of intricate wood carving, masterful finishing and state of the art electronics. Zakk Wylde’s Peham Blue Les Paul Stolen

Pelham-Blue-Les-Paul-2If you’re in Chicago, please keep a look out for Zakk Wylde’s Pelham Blue bullseye Gibson Les Paul Custom. It was stolen off his tour bus (along with a leather BLS vest). It was taken at 10:11pm during the Experience Hendrix show (which also features Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson, Dweezil Zappa, Johnny Lang, Bootsy Collins, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Billy Cox and more). I interviewed Zakk about this guitar for Gibson.com a few years ago and it sounds like it’s very near and dear to his heart. If you know the guitar’s whereabouts, you can contact Zakk through Twitter at @ZakkWyldeBLSRead More …
