Deep Purple will release their new album NOW What?! here in Australia on May 24, and the Aussie release will feature a bonus track in the form of a live versino of Highway Star. Ah but that’s not all! The digipack version of the album will include a bonus DVD with special audio content including the single All The Time In The World in an alternative radio mix, plus live versions of Perfect Strangers and Rapture Of The Deep. The album was produced by Bob Ezrin, who was already super-cool for producing The Wall but gained extra Cool Points by dressing up like a member of Jane’s Addiction when he produced Strays (it’s on the bonus DVD that came with that album).
Here’s the Deep Purple press release:
With sales exceeding 100 million albums since they formed in 1968, Deep Purple need no further introduction. With songs like Smoke On The Water, Highway Star, Space Truckin’ and Hush they created classics that have influenced countless bands and musicians.
Fresh from blowing away stadiums across Australia earlier this year, Deep Purple, one of the most important rock groups of all time, are set to release their first studio album since 2005, NOW What?!
Produced by one of rock’s most revered producers, Bob ‘The Wall’ Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Kiss), NOW What?! finds Deep Purple sounding as close to the spirit of the 70s as they have done over the past 20 years.
NOW What?! features 11 new songs plus the live favourite Highway Star – a bonus track for the Australian-only release.
To celebrate the release of this special album, Deep Purple will release a limited edition NOW What?! digipack which includes a bonus DVD with special audio content including the single All The Time In The World in an alternative radio mix, plus live versions of Perfect Strangers and Rapture Of The Deep.
Described by Ian Gillan as ‘…one of the most important recordings I have ever taken part of in my whole life…’ Deep Purple have emerged with an album that has both the excellence and elegance of Perfect Strangers and the wild freedom of Made in Japan.
The Australian-only version of NOW What ?! will be released on May 24 through earMUSIC/Shock
